FIRESNAKE™ RAIL HEATER
DESCRIPTION:  TECH DATA SHEET
80M010T is specifically designed to be used to heat and expand railroad rails for repair of pull-aparts.  This product has been manufactured to release heat according to a time/temperature curve allowing for maximum expansion of the metal rails.  The combustion is nearly smoke free.  Average burn times are 15-20 minutes per 10 foot FireSnake™ section.

80M010T is based on a special alcohol blend modified with cellulose thickeners and enhanced with special fibers for maximum heat output.  The special fiber material used in this product releases nitrogen, water and carbon dioxide upon combustion.

80M010T is not designed as a personal heat source.  This product is not recommended for use in an enclosed area.

Direction For Use:  Growing the rail varies under different conditions, such as, extreme temperatures, snow and ice, size of the rail, size of the joint, etc.  These conditions effect the heat necessary for expansion.

We recommend the following:

1)  Lay the FireSnake™ 40’- 60’ back from the joint to be closed, lay 60’ – 80’ of length on each side of the rail.  Center the FireSnake™ on the rail flange.

2)  Due to packaging and handling, the FireSnake™ will have areas where there is no gel.  Tamp the FireSnake™ to spread gel through these voids.  This allows for an even burn and helps reduce “roll-off” of the burning product.

 3) Use a fusee or other approved lighting method.  Light from the windward side or end of the rail.  Light every 2 – 3 feet along the length.

 4)   Estimated effective burn time is 15 – 20 minutes.  Under extreme conditions it maybe necessary to double the FireSnake™ lengths or add additional lengths (80’, 100’, etc.) to raise rail temperature.

5)   To avoid hazardous residue allow FireSnake™ to burn completely and self extinguish.

Use caution when opening the lid of the pail in case of vapor build-up. Do not smoke or have an open flame near pail when opening.

If you must extinguish burning FireSnake™, do not attempt to put out FireSnake™ by stepping on it.  Burning product will stick to footwear and may cause severe burns.  Flame may be put out by dousing with water or smothering with sand or dirt.

Do not intentionally light FireSnake™ while in the pail.  Do not reuse leftover portion of FireSnake™.  Do not cut FireSnake™.
